Arthur Franklin Matthews served in the 3rd Mississippi Infantry, Company A and the 4th Mississippi Cav, Company A. Great Grandpa of Proud Southerner Edward Benjamin Matthews. 

John Marion Moore

John Marion Moore served in the 24th Alabama Infantry, Company E, CSA. Great Grandpa of Proud Southerner Edward Benjamin Matthews. 

Major Gen. Joseph Brevard Kershaw of Camden, SC. 

He was one of General Lee's most reliable brigade commanders under Longstreet (Kershaw's Brigade). He started as the Colonel of the 2nd SC Volunteer Regiment (Fort Sumter). When the Army of Northern Virginia was re-organizied in 1862, he became a Brigade Commander. He became a Division Commander for the same army after the Battle of the Wilderness. William Henry May was assigned to and fought with the 47th Regiment, NC Troops, Company D, through the War.

Served as Pvt in A. W. Bowies Co. Barbaries Btn. Alabama Cav.. fought against Wilson's Raid and at Selma with Nathan Bedford Forrest escaped capture, And was paroled at Talladega Al.  On left in picture.

Rueben A. and Henry Chapman Tyler. Pvts. Co. A 24th Virginia Cavalry

Tyler, Rueben A. Pvt. Co. A, Paroled Richmond 21 April 65, Enlisted 4 March 62 Richmond-Wren-War, Home: Hanover Co., 31 Oct 63 Present, 15 June 64 AWOL, 20 July 64 Present, 31 Aug 64, 8 Nov 64 Absent sick. Rueben is pictured at the left.

Reuben's brother, Henry Chapman Tyler, "Chap", was also a member of the 24th Cav. In June of 1864, Chap was fatally wounded. Reuben went AWOL to visit his dying brother. After his brother's death and after returning his brother's body to their family home to be buried, Reuben rejoined his unit and remained with them until he was paroled from Libby Prison in Richmond,VA.
